Scope and Contents

This is an oral history interview with Dr. Mack A. Moore, recorded on June 24, 1998 by Marilyn Somers at Dr. Moore’s house in Atlanta, GA.

Dr. Moore begins his interview by telling of his early years in Cherokee County, GA. He then joined the military during World War II where he worked on airplanes in Hawaii until the war was over. He came back to Georgia where he worked at a golf course until he fought in the Korean War. After that war, he attended Georgia State and graduated with a degree in economics. Dr. Moore got married and went to the University of Wisconsin until 1952 when he was introduced to Tech. He began teaching at Tech from 1963 until 1998 as an economics professor. He later became faculty advisor despite some controversial editorials and comments opposing the women’s right movement. Dr. Moore adopted a son and a daughter with his first wife who died in 1979. He married a widow in 1981 who he now enjoys retired life with. Dr. Moore also wrote a book about "economic genealogy" of his family. Now he spends time perfecting his lawn and garden. He noticed how it was once a miserable way of life and he now finds it to be a great hobby.
