Shirley McPhaul Whitfield Scrapbook "Our First Scrap Book" , 1909-ca. 1950 and undated

This series contains a scrapbook compiled by Shirley Whitfield. Shirley most likely started the scrapbook when she and Randolph became engaged. The first several pages contain photos and memorabilia of Randolph and Shirley, individually, from their childhoods through college years. There are many pages related to their engagement, wedding, and honeymoon. There are also several pages detailing a cross-country trip they took in 1931. The rest of the scrapbook contains photos and mementos of the Whitfields’ life together through approximately 1950.

There are some items which either became loose from the scrapbook or were simply tucked into the book; some of these date up into the early 1960s. This scrapbook is in fairly good condition; however, the entire scrapbook, including the loose items, has been photocopied for preservation.
