Description
These genealogical files include mainly files on Captain Samuel Van Leer (1747-1825) and each of his children. (Samuel Van Leer’s second child, Isaac Wayne Van Leer (1773-1820), was Blake Ragsdale Van Leer’s great-grandfather.) Also included are files on Elizabeth Culbertson, Blake Ragsdale Van Leer’s great-grandmother; William Branson, Samuel Van Leer’s grandfather; Bernhardus Van Leer, Samuel’s father; Christiana Folkes Van Leer, Bernhardus Van Leer’s second wife; and Captain Anthony Wayne, whose daughter Hannah married Samuel Van Leer. The Van Leer line is traced in the family trees (filed first) and in a photostatic copy of Ella’s 1941 application on behalf of daughter Maryly to the Daughters of the American Revolution.
