In 1991, after a Final Four appearance the previous year and ending the 1990-1991 season 16-11, the Georgia Tech Men's Basketball team was once again selected to play in the NCAA Basketball Tournament. The number eight seed in the Midwest Region, Tech beat DePaul University in the first round, 87-70. This game was played 15 March 1991, at the University of Dayton Arena. Tech lost in the second round to Ohio State University, the Midwest's number one seed, 65-61.
This collection contains color photographs from the first round of the 1991 NCAA basketball tournament, Georgia Tech vs. DePaul University. The images consist of action shots of the Georgia Tech band, cheerleaders, basketball team, and the game. Negatives exist for all images except those of the game itself.
The photographs in this collection may have been taken by the Georgia Tech TelePhoto, a unit of the Office of External Affairs. The Office of External Affairs was responsible for Georgia Tech’s public communications. Because of reorganizations and renaming, neither the TelePhoto nor the Office of External Affairs still exist in 2009 under those exact designations. All internal and external communications are now handled through Communications and Marketing.
