This collection includes memoranda and other correspondence, minutes, guidelines and manuals, as well as copies of self-study reports from various campus constituencies, both for the 1972-1973 and the 1982-1983 campus-wide self-studies. Some material on a self-study from the early 1960s is also found in this collection.
In November 1971, the Institutional Self-Study Steering Committee made recommendations to the schools, departments, and other groups on the Georgia Tech campus to carry out intensive self-studies and produce written reports, to be completed by July 1, 1972. A summary report encompassing all campus sectors was to be produced by November 1972. The purpose of the reports was to provide statistical information, short- and long-term goals for each of the departmental groups. A similar self-study took place in 1982 through 1983, in preparation for the visit of the Visiting Committee of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) in March 1984.
