Weird Tales is an American pulp fiction novel that began publication in 1923 by Edwin Baird under Rural Publishing Corporation. Since then, it has switched editors fourteen times, for a total of eighteen seperate editors working on the magazine during its entire run. It also switched publishing companies nine times. Despite still being in publication, the series was out of publication a number of times, the most notable being the nineteen year gap between the September 1954 issue and the April 1973 issue. As of the writing of this note, it is still being published. It is considered by many to be one of the most influencial science-fiction magazines ever published.
