Begun in 2001, Girl Genius follows the adventures of Agatha Heterodyne in a wild string of adventures. The catchphrase for the series is " Adventure, Romance, MAD SCIENCE!", and the co-author Kaja Foglio describes the series as "gaslamp fantasy", eschewing the term steampunk that is sometimes applied to her work. Girl Genius has won numberous awards, most notable being the three time winner of the Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story.
