In 1966, the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) held the first of their Nebula awards. These awards sought to highlight the best writing in science fiction from the previous year. There were intitally four awards, based on the length of the writing. In 1967, SFWA began the publication of Nebula Award Stories, a year publication that would contain all the nominees and winners from the prior year's Nebula Awards.
