Begun in 1972, The Annual World's Best SF was a yearly book published by DAW Books. Beginning with the The 1972 Annual World's Best SF, the books were edited by Donald A. Wollheim and Arthur W. Saha. The stories were not selected by popular choice or some ranking, but rather on the opinion of the two editors. The series ran a total of 18 books, ending publication in 1990.
