This collection collections clippings, correspondence, photographs and other documentation of Paula Stephenson’s time at Georgia Tech. Stephenson’s majorette costumes, Ramblin’ Wreck Club hat, RATS cap, band sweater is also included.
Paula Stephenson was among the first women to graduate Georgia Tech. In 1954, Stephenson enrolled. She graduated with a degree in textile engineering in 1958. As a student, Stephenson was the first woman attending Tech to become a majorette as well as join the Tech Band as a flautist. She was the first woman to serve on the Rambling Reck Clu and became the first woman to serve on Student Council. In addition, she served on the Technique newspaper staff, the Women’s Student Association, Society of Women Engineers, American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists, and Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
