Famous contributors include Orson Scott Card, Spider Robinson, Larry Niven, and Roger Zelazny. Several of the short stories featured in Destinies went on to receive prestigious Hugo Awards in Science Fiction.

Destinies was a magazine / anthology of stories and articles regarding science fiction and speculative fact. The magazine was first published in 1978 by Ace Books and was edited by James Baen for its entire lifetime, 1978 through 1981. The publication ceased in 1981 when Baen left Ace Books and started his own company, Baen Books. In 1983, Baen renewed the title through New Destinies from 1987 to 1990, after which no new forms of the publication were released. Several famous contributors of Destinies include Orson Scott Card, Spider Robinson, Larry Niven, and Roger Zelazny. Several of the short stories featured in Destinies went on to receive prestigious Hugo Awards in Science Fiction.
