19 Folder(s) (Nineteen oversized folders in flat files)
This collection contains 19 sets of drawings and maps from different architectural and engineering firms for various projects on the Healey Building. There are plans for renovations and historic rehabilitation projects as well as floor plans for Rosa's Pizza and Ginseng Chinese Restuarant which are located in the commercial spaces on the ground floor. Of particular interest, there are drawings from 1912 titled, "First Floor Plan" by Morgan and Dillon with W.T. Downing.
Architects Morgan and Dillon with Walter T. Downing constructed the Healey Building from 1913-1914 as a commercial space before World War I. The Healey Building remained in the Healey family until 1972, when it was sold to Edward Elson and Morris Abram. In 1977, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places. In 1981, German entrepreneur Guenter Kaussen purchased the structure. By 1985, only sixteen percent of the office space remained in use and the building was bought from Kaussen's estate for by Healey Building Associates Ltd., a joint venture by the Dutch firm of Euram Resources and the Dutch bank Staal Bankers, N.V. In 1987, the Healey Building underwent an almost $12 million renovation under the direction of the architectural firm of Stang and Newdow, Inc. In 2001, the upper floors were converted into condominiums, while the lower floors operated as galleries, shops, and restaurants.
