The Georgia Institute of Technology College of Computing Records Collection comprises a compilation of administrative records that spans the period from 1972 to 2020. The contents of this collection are organized into sixteen Hollinger boxes, each dedicated to a specific category of materials. These boxes encompass publications, correspondence, strategic planning documents, meeting records, travel records, and events related to the college. Additionally, they include faculty athletics representative records, administrative records, advisory agendas and calendars, professional development materials, and peer review reports.

The College of Computing at Georgia Tech, established in 1990, is one of the earliest colleges of computing in the United States. Its roots lie in the 1964 establishment of the Information Science Division within the School of Information and Computer Science. Under the leadership of Peter Freeman, the founding dean, Georgia Tech revolutionized computing education by emphasizing interdisciplinary research, innovation, and public service. Notable developments include the establishment of the GVU Center and the Institute for Data Engineering and Science. The college’s interdisciplinary approach is evident in its diverse academic offerings, including programs in artificial intelligence, robotics, cybersecurity, human-computer interaction, and data science, designed to equip students with skills to address complex challenges at the intersection of computing and other disciplines. Over 12,000 alumni have graduated from the College of Computing at Georgia Institute of Technology. Materials are stored off-site. Requests for access must be submitted at least 2 business days in advance.
This collection was kept by the College of Computing until they were transferred to the Georgia Tech Archives in 2024.
Records were transferred to Archives and Special Collection from the College of Computing in 2024.
Duplicates were weeded out. Personal information that should not be published was removed as well.
Arrangement of the collection was roughly constructed the College. However, there was no organization based on dates, themes, or alphabet.
