The William E. Fincher Papers are composed of three Southern Football Officials Association Rule Books -- the 1929 Official Foot Ball Rules, the 1930 Official Foot Ball Rules, and the 1932 Rule Book.
William E. Fincher was an alumnus of Georgia Tech (class of 1920) and an All-American linesman for Tech in 1920. During the 1917 season, Tech beat the Auburn Tigers by a score of 68 to 7, with 8 goals from touchdowns by Fincher. In future years, Coach Fincher scored victories over LSU, Auburn, and Oglethorpe, and he was named All-American tackle and end twice. From 1925-1931, he served as line coach for the varsity football team.
