This collection consists of two Georgia Tech football programs dating from the 1940s, a ticket to the 1949 Georgia Tech-Florida game, a program for a Kappa Sigma Fraternity banquet held in Jackson, Mississippi in 1906, and a 1901 booklet on electricity.
Frank Rivers MacNeill was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 19, 1885. According to the Register of Students (UA351, 1899-1906) he entered the Georgia School of Technology on September 30, 1902 as an apprentice, C class. Frank MacNeill played football for the Georgia School of Technology and was also an early member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
When MacNeill married Mabel Abbott on October 15, 1910, he was affliated with the Cotton Insurance Association. Later, MacNeill worked on the Georgia Power Tallulah Falls dam project in Rabun County, Georgia. Mabel MacNeill also had a job related to the construction of the Tallulah Falls hydroelectric plant--she served as secretary to the chief engineer of the contracting company. The construction project was completed in 1914 and consisted of Tallulah Falls Dam, Tallulah Falls Lake, and a hydroelectric plant that brought additional power to the city of Atlanta.
MacNeill registered for the World War I draft on September 17, 1918; according to his draft card, he was 33 years old at the time and living on Lawton Street in Atlanta, Georgia. MacNeill also served on the Georgia Inspection and Rating Bureau in Atlanta, Georgia. He died in Florida on December 02, 1977 at the age of 92.
