The Georgia Tech Fact Books include a wealth of annual facts and figures about the Institute. Volumes typically include general information, including an historical sketch and mission statement, accompanied by organizational charts, a list of administrative faculty and staff, and statistics on the faculty. Admission and enrollment statistics usually form another significant section of the book. A section on student information includes statistics on student housing, tuition and fees, as well as a list of student organizations and information on the Georgia Tech Athletic Association and Alumni Association is normally part of the book. General statistics on finances are also included, as are data on facilities. Research is covered through a series of tables illustrating the grants and contracts obtained by Tech during the previous year, and through information on Georgia Tech Research Corporation and the Georgia Tech Research Institute.
In each volume, statistics generally cover the academic year or are cumulative up until the current academic year. For example, the 2005 Fact Book captures student information through Fall Semester 2005 and fiscal year data through June 30, 2005. Some data sets show trends for ten years from 1996 through 2005 while others cover a five year period or provide the latest year's update.
In general, the first volumes are less substantial than the more recent volumes. Volumes were published annually, except that there is no 1980-1981 volume in the Archives. This volume may never have been published. This collection also includes a few Mini Fact Books, which were apparently issued in some years along with the larger Fact Books. The Mini Fact Books contain summary information on most of the topics found in the larger Fact Books.
