This collection consists of one bound volume containing monthly newsletters for those in family housing at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Issues contain news items and announcements geared to those in family housing, activities for children, seasonal recipes, and advertisements for and calendars of events. The volume contains a full run of the newsletters from November 1979 through June 1985, except that the November 1982 and November 1984 issues are missing.
The Central Housing Office was first created on the campus of Georgia Tech on July 1, 1969, with Gary J. Schwarzmueller as Housing Staff Coordinator. In October of the following year, the name change to the Department of Housing occurred, and Gary Schwarzmueller began serving as its first Director. Schwarzmueller was to remain in the position for more than 20 years.
As of this writing (May 2013), Michael D. Black serves as the Executive Director of Housing. The Department of Housing comes under the Division of Campus Services, administered by the Executive Vice President for Administration and Finance.
