This collection contains handbooks on campus housing at Georgia Tech, including information on residential government, room contracts, policies, lists of campus dormitories, and other general information. Three volumes dating from 1992, 1993, and 1995 form part of this collection.
The Central Housing Office was first created on the campus of Georgia Tech on July 1, 1969, with Gary J. Schwarzmueller as Housing Staff Coordinator. In October of the following year, the name change to the Department of Housing occurred, and Gary Schwarzmueller began serving as its first Director. Schwarzmueller was to remain in the position for more than 20 years.
As of this writing (May 2013), Michael D. Black serves as the Executive Director of Housing. The Department of Housing comes under the Division of Campus Services, administered by the Executive Vice President for Administration and Finance.

This is a collection that has been created by the Georgia Tech Archives.
