Series 1 of this collection contains general office files, including historical information regarding the background of the Honors Program, correspondence, newspaper clippings, student information and feedback, and information about events and classes hosted by the Honors Program. Series 2 includes the internal annual reports about the Honors Program. The third series contains analyses of surveys conducted on both the honors students and the general Tech student body. A full run of the Honors Program newsletter, the HyPe, is found in Series 4.
The Georgia Tech Honors Program was created in the fall of 2006, and, as of May 2014, 368 students have graduated from the Honors Program. At the time of writing (October 2014), freshmen entering the Honors Program all live in the same residence hall together, and are required to take two honors core classes their first semester. Afterwards, students take an honors special topics course for the following three semesters. The Honors program prides itself on its diverse, engaged, and high achieving student body.
The program is administered through the Office of Undergraduate Education, which reports to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. Gregory H. Nobles directed the program until 2014.
