This collection contains correspondence concerning the retirement of D. M. (David M.) Smith, Professor of Mathematics at Georgia Tech from 1913 to 1954. Smith succeeded Floyd Field as head of the Department of Mathematics in 1936 and served in that capacity until 1951. The contents of this collection were removed from a scrapbook containing tributes to Smith compiled by George C. Griffin. The inside front cover of the scrapbook was titled: "Collection of tribute from Tech Alumni to Dr. D. M....
