Ships and Soldiers leaving port, ca. 1913-1914
File — Box: 1, Folder: 8
Description
From the Series:
This series has a variety of images depicting U.S. troops and supplies arriving at a dock and boarding U.S. Army Transport (U.S.A.T.) ships. Based on research, including the fact that the Sumner ran aground in 1916 and was declared a loss, these images probably date between 1911-1916, most likely 1913-1914. It is likely that the location in the photos is the port of Galveston, Texas. The Mexican Revolution was happening at this time and the US sent troops to Mexico and to the Texas-Mexico border.
