Series 1, documenting the final year of John P. Crecine's Presidency, contains the records of the President as well as those of the upper administration, including the Executive Vice President (Subseries 2), the Vice President for External Affairs (Subseries 3), the Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance (Subseries 6), and the Vice President for Student Services (Subseries 7). A large group of files on the Board of Regents is also found in Series 1 (see Subseries 1).
Georgia Tech Archives and Special Collections restricts personnel records for 3-7 years according to the Board of Regents retention schedule from the date of creation.
Georgia Tech Archives and Special Collections restricts identifiable information in student records until the time of a student's death or 75 years after the date the record was created.
Georgia Tech Archives and Special Collections permenantly restricts documents that have been placed under seal by a court or are subject to a protective order; documents that identify by name or otherwise clients that have been represented anonymously or pseudonymously; the terms of any confidential settlement or agreement. All such documents shall remain permanently closed unless the records are declassified, unsealed, the protective order is modified, or the client or the client's legal representative waives the privilege in writing.

Files are arranged in their original order, which mainly follows alphabetical order. Files are also grouped alphabetically under each officer of the upper administration. The division into seven subseries reflects this organizational structure.
