Highlights from this subseries include biographical information and correspondence covering Van Leer's early years and his time in Europe during the late 1920s, a diary from 1931, an engagement calendar from 1943-1944, files on the Van Leers' homes in Washington and Raleigh, and newspaper and magazine clippings, which include his obituaries (probably collected by Ella Van Leer). Some biographical information on Ella Wall Van Leer is also included in the biographical files.
