The "Gold Star" records and related projects began as initiatives of the Georgia Tech Alumni Association as a way to memorialize Tech alumni and students who had given their lives or had been taken as prisoners of war or had been declared missing in action during service in the United States Armed Forces from World War I to the Vietnam War. Primary focus is on World War II and the Vietnam War.
The Georgia Institute of Technology's Office of Institute Communications and Public Affairs (ICPA) was previously known as the news bureau and the public relations office. Among many other responsibilities, ICPA produces annual reports and tracks publicity Georgia Tech receives in various publications. These records include annual reports and newsclippings.
This collection contains photographs used by Institute Communications and Public Affairs at Georgia Tech for marketing and publications. Some photographs are historical images, but most are from approximately 1980-1998 and pertain to events at Georgia Tech during that time period.
